Prep Transition Program
Our Prep Transition Program is the beginning of your child’s journey to school, where they will have many opportunities to learn about our school and begin settling in.
At Stockdale Road Primary School we run an extensive transition program aimed at making your child’s pathway from pre-school to school a seamless experience. Our goal is to have students who feel happy, safe and excited about school from day one of the school year.
To accomplish this we offer the opportunity for you and your child to become familiar with the school in a number of ways.
Pre-School Visits
Once enrolments begin members of our prep team will make visits to your child in their pre-school setting. Our Transition Leaders will accompany staff members into the pre-school centres.
The Transition Leaders will be on hand during your child’s Term 4 transition visits to provide a familiar face and support to the new preps. These older children will become a support and ‘buddy’ for your child. We have found this to be a wonderful way to build relationships between our new students and the senior students of the school.
Informal Outdoor Sessions
In Term 3 we provide two Outdoor Play Sessions where you can become familiar with and play in the outdoor playgrounds and learning environments. Parents are required to stay at these sessions. You will meet other new parents and our current Prep (foundation) teachers.
Families who have enrolled for the following year will be contacted regarding dates for these visits.
Transition Sessions for Enrolled Children
At Stockdale Road Primary School we place a strong importance on ensuring our children feel happy, safe and excited about school. Our Prep Transition Program is the beginning of your child’s journey to school, where they will have many opportunities to learn about our school and begin settling in.
The transition from kindergarten and pre-school into Prep is a very important time for all children. It is our responsibility to make this transition as seamless as possible for each and every child that begins school at Stockdale Road Primary. As each child has a unique set of abilities, needs, and attitudes towards learning this means that the transition to school will be different depending on the individual.
In Term 4 our formal Transition Sessions for enrolled students will occur. During this time the children will be involved in activities that will familiarise them with the school in general. It will also provide a wonderful opportunity for the children to get to know the teachers and each other.
The date for Transition Sessions are as follows (each session will start at 2:30 and finish at 3:30pm)

- Monday 23rd November 2020
- Monday 30th November 2020
Proposed Prep Information Evening is Monday 7th December (TBC)
Statewide Orientation Day is on Tuesday 8th December (9:30-10:30 am)

2021 Preps
At Stockdale Road Primary School preps start school on Monday 1st February 2021. They will attend school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:5am to 3:30pm, having each Wednesday off until they commence full time on Monday 22nd February 2021.
School Readiness
As parents you may have many questions about whether your child is ready for school or if they may benefit from another year in pre school. Your trained professional Pre School teacher will give you the best advice if you are considering this option.
